Tata Sierra SUV First Look

The first spy shots of the upcoming Tata Sierra SUV have finally emerged on the web. Starting straight with the spied pictures, the test mule is heavy camouflaged, with only its steel wheels visible. However, we can still figure out its split headlamp setup, pronounced wheel arches and connected LED strip at the back. The higher trims of the SUV are expected to be offered with 19-inch alloy wheels, while the lower trims will get steel wheels.

The production-ready Tata Sierra will retain the raised bonnet, signature curved-over rear windows and squarish wheel arch cladding from the original Sierra. The design and styling of the SUV’s ICE and electric version will have slightly differences. The overall length of the new Sierra is likely to be around 4.3 metres, making it shorter than the Harrier, which measures 4605mm in length.

The latest set of spy images doesn’t reveal its interior. However, based on the close-to-production Sierra showcased earlier, it is expected to feature a floating triple screen – one in the centre and one in the passenger side and a digital instrument cluster. This unit is likely to be around 12.3-inch in size. The four-spoke steering wheel with the illuminated Tata logo will be borrowed from the Harrier and Safari. The SUV will also come with the ambient lighting system.

What else we can expect from the new Tata Sierra are a premium sound system sourced from Harman, wireless phone charger, ventilated front seats, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, a 360 degree camera, electronic stability control, 6 airbags, Level 2 ADAS and more.

The Tata Sierra petrol and diesel versions are expected to feature a 1.5L turbo and a 2.0L engine, producing a maximum power of 170bhp. The gasoline unit delivers a peak torque of 280Nm, while the oil burner offers 350Nm. The ICE-powered model could be offered with the AWD (all-wheel drive) system. Reports suggest that the new Sierra EV might come with battery pack ranging between 60kWh – 80kWh, promising a range of over 500km.
