After the brilliant bowling of fast bowler Mohammed Shami, India made a winning start of the tournament by defeating Bangladesh by six wickets in their first match of the Champions Trophy with the best century of Vice -captain Shubman Gill. The Indian bowlers led by Shami performed brilliantly and stopped Bangladesh for 228 runs in 49.4 overs. In response, India won the match by scoring 231 runs for four wickets in 46.3 overs thanks to an unbeaten 101 runs off 129 balls of Gill.
