Hyderabad: Nalgonda police have successfully solved the highway robbery case reported at Narketpally on Feb 9, arresting a key member of the notorious Dhar gang, identified as Mohammed Asraf Khan. Authorities recovered Rs 25 lakh in cash and a car used in the crime, with a total value of approximately Rs 35 lakh.
Nalgonda district superintendent of police Sharath Chandra Powar explained that the breakthrough came after analysing CCTV footage and following other crucial leads. A special team was dispatched to Dhar district in Madhya Pradesh, where the main accused was apprehended. Although Khan was arrested, other members of the gang remain at large. He was brought to Nalgonda and produced before a local court.
Police revealed that Khan and his associates have been involved in several criminal activities across Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Andhra Pradesh. After being arrested in their home state, the gang shifted to neighbouring states to avoid detection, continuing with their criminal operations, police said.
