Visakhapatnam: Bheemili police recently arrested a couple in connection with a case involving skeletal remains. The arrested were identified as U Chinna Rao and his wife G Mounika, residents of Nerellavalasa locality of Anandapuram.
It is recalled that a few days ago, skeletal remains were found near Uppada of Bheemili in the city. The deceased was identified as M Konda Dora Appanna (50), a local astrologer and a resident of Anandapuram locality. Police said, Appanna’s son Durga Prasad had lodged a complaint with Anandapuram police station citing that Appanna Dora went missing. The cops registered a missing case on Feb 10.
The investigation revealed that on Feb 7, accused Mounika had invited Appanna to her home to perform some pujas. While performing the puja in the residence, Appanna was discourteous towards Mounika. Later, she narrated the entire episode to her husband Chinna Rao, and the couple decided to eliminate Appanna. As planned, Chinna Rao asked Appanna to visit their home to perform another puja on Feb 9. Rao picked Appanna up on his bike, took him to an isolated place, and stabbed him with a knife. The accused man also suffered a minor injury during the process and received treatment for the same at KG Hospital in the city. The next day, the couple visited the crime spot, poured petrol, and burnt the body.
