Three members of a family from Satapur village in Nizamabad were electrocuted after coming in contact with a live electric wire on Thursday (February 20, 2024). The victims were identified as 45-year-old Orpu Gangaram, his 40-year-old wife Balamani, and their 22-year-old son Kishan.
According to Bodhan Rural Inspector Vijay Babu, the family owned a pig farm and had ventured about 2-3 kilometers from their home in search of a missing pig. “During their search, one of them accidentally touched a low-hanging live wire. The agricultural land was submerged in about a foot of water, intensifying the electrocution,” said the officer.
“They were standing just 1-2 meters apart when the current spread through the water, killing all three of them instantly,” he explained.
The incident was reported between 7 a.m. and 8 a.m., and two children, who witnessed the tragedy, narrowly escaped by running away from the spot. A case was booked and the bodies were sent for postmortem evaluation.
