Vijayawada: In a shocking incident, an RTC bus crashed into platform number two at Pandit Nehru Bus Station (PNBS) in Vijayawada on Friday night, months after a similar accident claimed three lives.
The mishap occurred when an ultra deluxe RTC bus from the Jangareddygudem depot lost control due to brake failure and rammed into a pillar at platform number two of the departure block. The impact severely damaged the pillar, along with its frame and railing. Nearby iron railings and steel barricades also broke due to the force of the collision.
Fortunately, passengers waiting at the platform noticed the approaching bus in time and moved aside, averting a major tragedy. With fewer passengers present at the time, a potential disaster was avoided.
While the bus’s windshield shattered and the front portion sustained damage, no injuries were reported. Authorities are investigating the incident to determine further details and prevent future occurrences.
