BHPian CEF_Beasts recently shared this with other enthusiasts: Quote from BHPian CEF_Beasts:Illuminated Power Window Switches Will source the Camry parts from a TASC next time I’m in Mumbai, to fit in the HyCross, if they do agree to let me buy them. UPDATE TIME – Illuminated Power Window Switches If many will remember I had mentioned in my ownership review while publishing last year that I wanted to source the Illuminated Master Window Switches from the Camry for the HyCross, it would’ve been a direct fit and I would be sourcing the parts from a TASC. Can’t believe I could’ve been so wrong!! Toyota is no VAG in India, where there are multiple folks running businesses selling VAG parts for the cars sold in India and making huge profits. This project may seem like a very simple and easy task to carry out, but finding the right part that would fit the HyCross was an Herculean task!! Toyota Globally hasn’t made it any simpler, they have multiple permutations and combinations of these switches for their line-up of cars. Also post Nov/Dec 2022 Toyota globally shifted from cool blue backlit buttons to white buttons for all their cars, which made matters even more difficult. Like I mentioned I would be getting the Post-Facelift Camry Master Window Switches from a TASC in Mumbai, I got a contact through a Fortuner Owner of the Parts Manager at Lakozy, called him and mentioned I need the master window switch panel of the Camry, to which he mentioned there are 7 different part numbers and he can’t confirm if it’ll work with the HyCross or not. But then I started seeing more night time videos of the Camry in India to understand if I was correct and realised all the buttons were backlit in blue. I was back on the drawing board! I had given up on the project, but then suddenly something inside me woke up and I was back in action again. There are many sellers on AliExpress and a website called CarTrimsHome that sell these white backlit Master Window Switches but all are for LHD Toyota models. This LHD and RHD orientation with Blue and White Backlit buttons would’ve driven anyone nuts! The difference in the LHD and RHD master switch panel is that the placement of the lock/unlock button and window lock button is reversed, also if you install the LHD panel in a RHD car, the driver window switch will open the passenger window and passenger window switch on the master window panel will open the driver’s window. Then I started my search exclusively in RHD markets like the UK, Australia and Japan. UK had them available but all were Blue Backlit buttons from cars like the Corolla, Australia I could find no conclusive part numbers, their parts websites would lead me no where. Then came Japan the home country of Toyota and this is where I came across a website called amayama.com where for multiple brands proper detailed parts list with diagrams was available. The first car I started with was the Camry, but the 2025 Camry which has all buttons backlit in White didn’t have its parts list ready yet anywhere in the world, so this was out. The same was mentioned to me by the Lakozy Parts Manager as well. Next came up the Corolla Cross available in Japan, I zeroed in on a part no. 84040-30330, but had no clarity whether the part was backlit in White or Blue. This part was shortlisted though. Cars like the Land Cruiser Prado and Grand Highlander get a different design of master window switches, so that was anyways out. Next car I saw was the newly launched Toyota Crown, first saw a few videos of the car in the LHD markets and confirmed all buttons were illuminated in White. Then saw a few videos of the car in the Japanese market and could just make out that the buttons were backlit in white. On amayama.com the Master Window Switch panel for a RHD Crown had the part no. 84040-42150, which if entered on Google would lead me to RAV4s. What I still needed was a confirmation though. I don’t know how but I got led to a Japanese Forum called Minkara.carview.co.jp which had multiple people share pictures of this Part No. and the night time picture showed White Backlit Buttons That was it, I was sure this is the part I needed, but still needed to figure out how to source it. First I asked the Owner of a Toyota Dealership down south, if this part is available with them or not, he was very amused to find out that I needed such an upgrade on an Innova and my attention on detail for such things, considering a regular Joe won’t care about such a small thing . I sent him the part no. and he mentioned it isn’t available in India since it belongs to a RAV4. On amayama.com Part No. 84040-30330 was available for around 190 AUD including shipping, but 84040-42150 wasn’t available. The Japanese Corolla Cross video, where the person has changed his Master Window Switches Panel to Part No. 84040-42150 which belongs to a Toyota RAV-4 https://youtu.be/UMfe3uC6mPA?feature=shared In the comment section of this video, after translating to English, I found out that someone with a Corolla Cross in Japan has changed to Part No.: 84040-30330 as well and both will work with the HyCross as well! I shared my predicament with my friend, from Gurgaon, who is more like a brother now, who recently got his 2nd HyCross after his first HyCross was lost in a fire. He found out a website in Japan called YoshiParts.com having stock of the Part No. 84040-42150 we wanted. He ordered it first for his car since it was a gamble we were playing on, just in case the part doesn’t come out right. It costed around ~13-14k INR including shipping. So Ladies and Gentlemen, I present you India’s First HyCross (my friend’s) with OEM Toyota Japan Illuminated Master Window Switches! Will be carrying out the same on my car soon. The Panel which houses the Master Window Switches is very easy to open. There are two couplers inside, a small one for the Electric Mirror Adjuster and Electric Window Fold/Unfold. The 2nd Large coupler is for the Master Window Switches, Lock/Unlock Button and Window Lock Button, it has a 20-pin setup which fits inside the coupler. The Master Window Switches, Lock/Unlock Button and Window Lock Button panel is held by 3 screws which need to be removed after unplugging the coupler to remove this panel and replace it with your new 84040-42150 Panel. Follow the same procedure of putting back the 3 screws, both the couplers and you’re good to go! A net-net 10-15 Minutes job… Just remember to tighten the screws too much since at the end of the day they’re holding plastic which will start creaking and groaning in no time if tightened too much. The Stock OEM Part No is 84040-VT010 in case anyone wants to get the stock one. The Part 84040-42150 shipped by YoshiParts from Toyota Japan The Master Window Switches Panel in flesh The 2 Couplers I mentioned earlier, the smaller one for the Mirror Adjustment & Auto Fold/Unfold and the larger 20 Pin one for the Power Window Switches, Lock/Unlock and Window Lock Button The 3 screws that need to be removed to change the panel with the new one On the Left; Part No: 84040-42150 which has all buttons illuminated in White with Chrome Tips, meanwhile On the Right; the Stock part with only the Driver Window Switches illuminated in White Part No.: 84040-42150 Installed side-by-side with the cheap stock one Part No.: 84040-42150 The Stock Master Window Switches Panel that comes with the HyCross from Factory; Part No: 84040-VT010 The Next Update will be for the other Individual Window Switches on the Passenger Doors along with some night time pictures.
