Hyderabad: Chief minister A Revanth Reddy on Friday reaffirmed the Congress govt’s commitment to transforming one crore women self-help group members into ‘crorepatis.’
During his speech at the inauguration of a petrol bunk managed by women SHG members in Narayanpet district, he revealed an ambitious plan to organise a massive public meeting with one crore women. The event, slated to take place near the outer ring road, will see the participation of women from across the state. CM Revanth further announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would be invited to the event.
Speaking about the SHG initiative, CM Revanth set a target to increase the number of women SHG members from the current 67 lakh to one crore, under the supervision of women and child welfare minister Seethakka. “We will show our strength by organising a massive meeting with one crore women. With the cooperation of Arunamma (BJP MP DK Aruna), we will invite the Prime Minister and request funds for development projects. Politics should only be a part of elections, and both state and central govts must focus on collaboration for development,” he said.
The CM also outlined plans to set up SHG-managed petrol bunks across the state. The first phase will see bunks established in each district, followed by their introduction in every assembly constituency, all located on govt lands.
Highlighting several ongoing initiatives, CM Revanth said the govt is supporting women in establishing solar power plants with a target of generating 1,000 MW, and providing land in Hyderabad’s IT hub for SHG members to set up stalls and sell their products. He also announced plans to allocate 600 buses to SHG members, offer govt contracts for stitching school uniforms, and maintain Amma Adarsha Patashalas.
The Congress govt has also sanctioned five lakh Indiramma houses annually, conducted a BC caste census, and resolved the 30-year-old SC sub-categorisation issue, he said.
Earlier in the day, Revanth interacted with medical college students in Narayanpet, assuring them that the required infrastructure would be developed. He encouraged them to view the medical profession as a responsibility, emphasising that their service would be a fitting tribute to Chittem Narsi Reddy, a beloved figure who served the local community for 50 years. “Let’s name this medical college after him,” Revanth added.

Rs 1,000 cr for quality saris to women
Hyderabad: CM Revanth Reddy announced that Rs 1,000 crore would be allocated for the distribution of quality saris to women SHG members. “Unlike the saris distributed under the previous BRS govt, which were reportedly used to cover scarecrows in agricultural fields, these will be of superior quality,” the CM said.
