SECI agreement vindicates YSRC’s solar power purchase: Kakani

Anantapur:Opposition YSRC on Saturday asserted that the agreement of Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has exposed the ruling Telugu Desam Party and its friendly media, which spun baseless stories targeting former chief minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and his governance.

Speaking to media here, former minister Kakani Goverdhan Reddy pointed out that the Andhra Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (APERC) has given its nod to the SECI agreement.

“This is a slap on the face of TD and its friendly media, which put out story after story levelling baseless allegations,” the former minister maintained.

He pointed out that DISCOMs had never before entered into such an agreement earlier. “It is the sole initiative of then chief minister Jagan Mohan Reddy, due to which the state received a benefit of ₹1.10 lakh crore. But Chandrababu Naidu had kept falsely alleging that the state is losing ₹87,500 crore due to the agreement with SECI,” Goverdhan Reddy underlined.

He reiterated that the APERC statement has now set the record straight.

The former minister pointed out that APERC has now endorsed the 7,000 MW purchase agreement saying it is within the purview of the aggregate revenue requirement (ARR) guidelines.
