Hyderabad: Teachers play a crucial role in shaping students’ perspectives, as students trust and absorb what they are taught, said Telangana state education director E.V. Narasimha Reddy. He emphasised that educators must be mindful of their teaching methods to ensure effective learning.
He was speaking at the closing session of a two-day state-level training programme held at the Telangana Institute of Rural Development (TGIRD), Rajendranagar, to equip district resource persons with the skills needed to train newly appointed primary school teachers across the state.
Narasimha Reddy highlighted the importance of reading speed assessments under the foundational literacy and numeracy (FLN) framework and urged teachers to evaluate their own reading speed. He stressed the need for an integrated approach, combining textbooks, workbooks and handbooks to improve students’ reading and writing skills.
“Despite years of schooling, many students still struggle with basic literacy. Using all these resources effectively can help address the problem,” he said. While advocating for technology in education, he cautioned that it should complement, not replace, human interaction in the learning process.
SCERT director G. Ramesh and curriculum department head Tahseen attended the event.
