Telangana to Honour J. Eashwari Bai’s Legacy

Hyderabad: The state government will observe the 34th death anniversary of J. Eashwari Bai at 5 pm on February 24 at Ravindra Bharathi.

Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, ministers and other dignitaries are scheduled to attend the event on Monday. Eashwari Bai was known for her work as a politician and social activist and was jailed for taking part in the 1969 Telangana statehood agitation.

In a media statement, former minister and senior Congress leader Dr J. Geeta Reddy, chairperson of the Eashwari Bai Memorial Trust, said that floral tributes would be paid to the statue of the late leader at 9.30 am on Monday at the traffic island opposite St John’s Church, Marredpally.

The state government is officially organising the birth and death anniversary observances of Eashwari Bai, the mother of Dr Geeta Reddy, at Ravindra Bharathi every year.
