Vijayawada: Two teenagers drowned while fishing in the left canal of Polavaram near Veeravalli village in Krishna district on Sunday morning.
Veeravalli SI Srinivas identified the duo as Shaik Nagoor Basha and Shaik Sahreef. They were 16 and cousins. Basha was an intermediate first-year student at a private college, while Sahreef was pursuing diploma in polytechnic. On Sunday, the duowent fishing with Basha’s father, Subhani.
While Subhani was fishing at a distance, the duo were seated on the bank. When Sahreef’s fishing hook got stuck, he entered the water to free it but was pulled in by quicksand. Basha tried to rescue him, but both were dragged underwater and went missing.TNN
