Hyderabad: Deputy chief minister Bhatti Vikramarka, who also holds the finance portfolio, assured the director general of police on Saturday that the state govt would fulfil the budgetary needs of the home department. He instructed police to increase security measures in response to the growing migration to Greater Hyderabad and its surrounding areas.
“Every citizen in the state should feel confident about their safety and security. The govt will take responsibility for meeting the budgetary and infrastructural needs of police,” Bhatti said during a pre-budget meeting with police officers and home department officials. Highlighting Telangana’s rapid development, Bhatti pointed out that Hyderabad is evolving as an urban hub. “In addition to the three commissionerate limits, another one, Future City, is being developed. Work on the regional ring road is progressing fast. Due to favourable weather and employment opportunities, migration to Hyderabad and the state is increasing. Consequently, the home department must strengthen security measures,” he explained.
Bhatti also assured police that special attention would be given to addressing issues in the border areas. He praised state police, particularly for their success in tackling cybercrimes, stating, “Telangana police have earned a strong reputation across the country, especially in solving cybercrime cases.” He directed police officials to submit proposals for the construction of police quarters where feasible. “Police officers should also seek out CSR funds to strengthen the department,” Bhatti advised.
Bhatti reviewed the police department’s progress over the past year, discussing filled positions and vacancies.
