Chhaava, based on Chhatrapati Shambhaji Maharaj’s life, is dominating the Bollywood box office, filling theaters after Stree 2 and Pushpa 2. The collections have surged across North India and even in Telugu states. Additional shows have been added in multiple regions.
Crossing ₹300 crore in just ten days, the film’s weekend craze is evident, with BookMyShow reporting good trends. If momentum sustains, Chhaava is on track to surpass ₹500 crore, aided by the 50-day theatrical window before the OTT release. However, the HD piracy version will surely impact the collections.
Vicky Kaushal’s stardom has skyrocketed, placing him in the top league alongside Kapoors and Khans. Vicky’s rising influence is seen in videos of people renaming streets that once bore Mughal rulers’ names. Rashmika Mandanna, too, celebrates a hat-trick of hits, boosting her market demand.
The film’s Hindi-only release is now a regretful decision, as unexpected demand for dubbed versions in Telugu and other languages has surfaced. However, past historical films like Jodha Akbar, Bajirao Mastani, and Tanhaji struggled outside Hindi markets, leading producers to avoid risks. Stree 2 also skipped dubbing despite massive collections, reinforcing their cautious approach.
While Chhaava has strong momentum, sustaining it for another month until Shivaratri will be crucial for reaching ₹500 crore.
