Visakhapatnam: The recent budget by the Union govt is designed to contribute to the nation’s economic progress and overall prosperity, said Union minister of state for heavy industries and steel, Bhupathiraju Srinivasa Varma. The Union govt is committed to develop Visakhapatnam and is taking steps to promote the growth of the region, he added.
He was addressing an event conducted by the BJP in Visakhapatnam on the Union budget for the financial year 2025-26. Vizag North MLA Vishnu Kumar Raju also attended the event.
Speaking on the occasion, Varma said that the budget was a matter of pride for Telugu people as finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman quoted popular Telugu playwright and poet by saying “the country is not just land, it’s the people.” “The 2025-26 budget aims at a developed India and is designed with a focus on the country’s overall welfare rather than political gains. Priority was given to sectors like education and healthcare, and the budget also made provisions for farmers,” said Varma.
“Since the formation of the NDA govt at the Centre, there has been an increased emphasis on education, with numerous projects being sanctioned to the state by the Centre. The budget maintains a balanced approach, giving equal importance to all sectors. It also provides significant relief to the middle class and salaried individuals,” said the minister.
Srinivas Varma spoke about the revolutionary changes brought to the railway sector since Modi became Prime Minister. He noted that the Centre has made significant allocations for Andhra Pradesh, particularly in the railway sector.
