Tight security at all Group-II mains examination centres

Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) successfully conducted the Group-II mains examination on Sunday amid tight security across the state. Despite demands for postponement, the exam proceeded without disruptions, and no protests were reported.
Heavy police deployment ensured a smooth process, with District Superintendents of Police (SPs) personally monitoring arrangements. Strict measures were in place to prevent malpractice, including banning electronic gadgets and temporarily closing xerox centres near test venues. The exams were held in two sessions: 10:00 am – 12:30 pm and 3:00 pm – 5:30 pm.
Kurnool SP Vikrant Patil inspected centres like St. Joseph College, emphasising strict monitoring. In Tirupati, SP V Harshavardhan Raju enforced Section 144 around centres and ordered thorough candidate screenings. In Srikakulam, under SP K.V. Maheshwara Reddy, police assisted a differently-abled candidate at Sri Venkateswara Engineering College in Etcherla.
SPs P Jagadeesh (Anantapur) and K Pratap Shiva Kishore (Eluru) supervised arrangements, ensuring security checks and traffic management. Around 4,415 aspirants appeared in Eluru district alone.
Authorities enforced strict measures to maintain transparency and fairness, preventing malpractices. Despite the uproar, APPSC maintained its stance, asserting that conducting the examination as scheduled was crucial to avoid further administrative delays. Officials reiterated that the commission was following the prescribed selection process, in line with legal and constitutional mandates. MSID:: 118505495 413 |
