TPCC team rejig likely to be delayed | Hyderabad News

Hyderabad: The announcement of a new TPCC team, which will have four working presidents and at least 15 vice-presidents, is likely to be delayed due to the appointment of a new AICC in charge of Telangana, Meenakshi Natarajan. AICC and TPCC leadership will consult her regarding the names sent for working president posts to the party leadership in New Delhi. While senior leaders said it is unlikely that there would be any change in the list of names already sent to AICC for working president posts, aspirants left out earlier, have started lobbying to get their names included in the list.
Meenakshi Natarajan was supposed to land in Hyderabad on Sunday to hold a meeting with senior leaders, but it was deferred. She has already asked the party leaders and cadre to take the ensuing graduate MLC election to be held on Feb 27 as a prestigious issue.
A senior AICC leader told TOI that Congress might again return to its old formula and was preparing to make the district presidents powerful. “This issue was discussed by AICC top leaders during a recent meeting with AICC general secretaries and in charges of various states. Until the 1970s, ticket distribution and other decisions were made at the district level. Later, PCCs became powerful and then finally the AICC took control. Meenakshi Natarajan may give clarity on party posts, especially working presidents, vice presidents, general secretaries, and district presidents when she holds a meeting with party senior leaders in the state soon,” the AICC leader said.
TPCC president Mahesh Goud, in consultation with chief minister A Revanth Reddy, ministers, and leaders, sent three names each for the four working president posts.
While Jetti Kusum Kumar from the Kamma community is seeking the working president post, Feroz Khan, Azmathullah Hussainbi, and Faheem Qureshi are in the race from the minority community. However, AICC is also considering the name of Mohammed Azharuddin for a second term as working president.
