Maruti Suzuki To Launch 4 BEVs

Maruti Suzuki aims to regain the 50 percent market share with its aggressive product strategy. Considering the growing demand for greener solutions, the Indo-Japanese automaker plans to introduce four new BEVs (battery electric vehicles) by the financial year 2030, starting with the e Vitara. The Maruti and Vitarawhich was showcased at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Show, is set to hit showrooms next month.

Speculations suggest that the electric Vitara could be followed by the Maruti Fronx EV. While the carmaker remains tight lipped about the names and details of its upcoming BEVs, the range is likely to include the electric iteration of the Eritga MPV. With the Maruti Ertiga EV, the automaker is likely to target fleet buyers. The next model in the pipeline could be a small electric car in the A-segment, positioned as a rival to the Tata Punch EV, which currently dominates the segment. OEMs like Hyundai, Renault and Nissan are also planning to introduce small EVs in coming years.

Maruti Suzuki To Launch 4 BEVs

Talking about the Maruti e Vitara, the electric SUV is underpinned by a skateboard platform, co-developed with Toyota. This EV will be made available with a 49kWh and 61kWh battery pack options, benefited with BYD’s blade cell technology. Both these batteries, with the front-axle mounted motors, deliver a claimed power of 143bhp and 173bhp, respectively. The torque output for both remains the same – i.e. 192.5Nm. While the carmaker hasn’t yet revealed the official range of the electric Vitara, but confirmed that the higher-spec version will offer over 500km (MIDC).

In the midsize electric SUV segment, the Maruti e Vitara will compete against the Hyundai Creta Electric, Mahindra BE 6, Tata Curvv EV and MG ZS EV. It will be a premium, Nexa exclusive offering with priced expected to start from Rs 17 lakh for the base variant and up to Rs 22.50 lakh for the top-end variant.
