2 more cases against ex-MLA Vamsi over land grabbing | Vijayawada News

Vijayawada: Two separate cases were registered against former Gannavaram MLA Vallabhaneni Vamsi over allegations of land grabbing, forgery, criminal intimidation, and cheating. Complaints were lodged at Gannavaram and Athkuru in Krishna districts.
Vijayawada resident Sunkara Seetha Mahalakshmi filed a complaint at Gannavaram police station on Monday over a long-standing land dispute. She claimed she had legally purchased a 10-cent plot near Gandhi Bomma Center in Gannavaram in 2004 from one Chowdeshwari. However, Chowdeshwari’s sisters, later challenged the sale, leading to a legal battle and a stay order from the Senior Civil Judge of Gudivada Court. According to the complaint, after Vallabhaneni Vamsi was re-elected as MLA in 2019, Tulasi Rani and Jaishree approached him to intervene in the dispute. In 2021, Vamsi allegedly summoned the complainant and her husband to his office, pressuring them to sell the land at the original purchase price. Upon refusal, he reportedly threatened them. The complainant said on Jan 10, 2022, under Vamsi’s influence, Chowdeshwari illegally re-registered the land in the names of Anil Kumar and SVS Ramakrishna.
Another complaint was filed at Athkuru police station by Sanagala Sridhar Reddy (52), a railway contractor from Telaprolu village. He alleged that he extended loans amounting to 89 lakh to Kathija Begam over several years. In return, Kathija agreed to sell 9.18 acres of agricultural land to settle her debts. However, she passed away before the transaction could be legally completed. Later, one Bhimavarapu Yatendra Ramu allegedly misled the complainant, promising to facilitate the sale through revenue officials but failing to do so.
When Sridhar Reddy attempted to take legal action, he was allegedly threatened by then-MLA Vamsi. The complainant was called to Vamsi’s office in Gannavaram, and warned of serious consequences if he pursued the matter.
