When the victim realised he had been deceived, he filed a complaint with the cybercrime police. During interrogation, Kumar revealed that he target job-seekers by posting fake advertisements on popular job portals. After collecting their mobile numbers, Dharmender and his associates, including women, made unsolicited calls and sent messages or emails, claiming to represent reputable companies. They used professional language and tone and even conducted fake interviews or assessments to build trust with victims.
They also created fake employee profiles to appear legitimate. To gain victims’ confidence, the fraudsters would ask them to provide bank account numbers, credit card details and personal documents. During the raid, police seized three mobile phones and three laptops used in the offence and produced the accused before the court of judicial remand.
