Fraudster arrested in UP for duping city job seeker of 15.8 L

Hyderabad: Hyderabad police‘s Cyber Crime team has arrested Dharmender Kumar alias Rohan, 30, from Uttar Pradesh, for allegedly operating a job fraud scheme through a Delhi-based call centre. The accused is reportedly involved in five similar cases across India.
The arrest came after a 49-year-old city resident filed a complaint about being cheated of 15.8 lakh. The victim registered on a website called ‘go2career’ and was contacted by someone claiming to offer employment at OPTUM Company’s Hyderabad branch. The scammer demanded money for “internal file processing” and disappeared after receiving the funds.
Investigation revealed that the fraudsters operated through fake job postings on popular job portals and social media platforms. They conducted fake interviews and created false LinkedIn profiles to appear legitimate, ultimately requesting victims’ personal and financial information.
Police seized three mobile phones and three laptops from the accused.
