The 40th Maha Kumbhabhishekam, will be organised at RK Beach here on Wednesday (February 26).
Addressing a media conference on Tuesday, former Union Minister T. Subbarami Reddy said that this year holy water from the Maha Kumbh Mela at Prayag Raj would be used for the ‘abhishekam’ of Lord Siva. The Maha Kumbhabhishekam would be performed to 1.8 crore Siva Lingams, which would be arranged in the form of a giant Siva Lingam on the beach.
Devotees could perform abhishekam with ‘panchamrutham’, ‘fruit juices’ and other materials. They would be given ‘rudraksha’ beads and ‘pasupu thallu’ (sacred thread). Kalyanam would be performed to the deity at 3 p.m. and it would be followed by ‘Homam’ at 4.30 p.m.
Popular comedian Brahmanandam and noted scholar Madugula Nagaphani Sarma would be presented the title ‘Avadhana Brahma’ on the occasion. Cultural programmes, including ballets, would be staged by 45 artistes. They would be followed by staging of a pouranic drama by Nandi Award winner Vankayala Maruti Prasad and troupe.
