Hyderabad: A rescue team went in to assess how bad the approach is in Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) tunnel at Domalapenta in which eight workers trapped and what can be done for dewatering and slush removal from it.
No real rescue operation was taken up on Monday, according to officials. The team may try to make it beyond the 11/12 km point till where the trolley can go. There were concerns over whether the debris removal conveyor belt system can take repeated loads of people walking on it to reach tunnel boring machine (TBM).
The collapse occurred a few days after construction work had resumed following a lengthy hiatus. While some workers managed to escape, the eight remained trapped.
