Vijayawada: The Supreme Court on Tuesday granted interim bail to Jogi Ramesh, Devineni Avinash, and 20 others in the cases registered following the attack on chief minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu’s house when he was the opposition leader, and on the TDP central office at Mangalagiri. The apex court directed the petitioners to be available for the investigation and not to leave the country without prior permission from the investigation agency.
Ramesh and Avinash had moved the apex court challenging the orders of the high court that rejected their bail applications. Senior counsel Mukul Rohatgi argued on their behalf, saying that it is a politically motivated case as the alleged incident happened about three years ago and the petitioners were made accused after the change of govt. Arguing on behalf of state govt, senior counsel Siddharth Luthra said that the petitioners approached the court three years after the registration of the case. They are on the list of accused. They know that they had committed an offence and approached the court for bail as the truth will come out after change of govt.
