Hyderabad: With key hubs like Genome Valley, Hyderabad Pharma City, and the medical devices park, Hyderabad has emerged as a global investment destination for the life sciences sector and a key contributor to India’s aim of becoming a $500 billion life sciences economy by 2047, Union coal and mines minister G Kishan Reddy said on Wednesday.
“Hyderabad is today not only known as the Pearl City but also the pharmacy of the world and has the best international-class hospitals,” he said while delivering the valedictory address at the 22nd edition of BioAsia 2025.
Reddy, who is also the Secunderabad member of Parliament, said Hyderabad, with its strong talent pool drawn from eminent institutions like IIT, NIPER, CCMB, NALSAR, and DRDL labs, has already emerged as a global talent magnet.
“It is indeed a matter of pride that Hyderabad is truly the bulk drugs and vaccine capital of India. Hyderabad is also a leader in IT exports, making it a key hub for innovation and business. The city alone, through the software technology parks, exports more than Rs 1.2 lakh crore. With its strong background in both life sciences and technology, Hyderabad is ready to take on a bigger role on the global stage,” he said.
