Telangana Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy, Roads & Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy on Wednesday (February 26, 2025) held a meeting with teams from multiple organisations involved in the rescue works at collapsed portion of Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) tunnel in Nagarkurnool.

The Ministers were apprised that ways to reach tunnel boring machine (TBM) are being explored. Measures are being taken to remove the slush in the tunnel which is hindering the rescue work.

Mr. Uttam Kumar Reddy on Tuesday (February 25, 2026) said that silt coupled with water seepage inside the tunnel posed a challenge to the rescue works. It was assessed that water seepage was 3,000 litres to 5,000 litres per minute. Besides, a large quantity of debris too got accumulated near the tunnel boring machine (TBM).
