Warangal: In a successful operation on Wednesday, Task Force Police officials raided several illegal belt shops in Hanamkonda and caught six people involved in the unauthorised sale of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL). They seized bottles worth Rs 2,46,850.
Task force assistant commissioner of police A. Madhusudhan disclosed that the raids were launched based on credible information about the illicit sale of IMF liquor and the operation of unauthorised belt shops.
During the operation, J. Raju (30) and B. Swarupa (45), residents of Gundla Singaram under Kakatiya University police station jurisdiction, were caught with IMFL worth Rs 1.25,310 in their possession.
In another raid, two more suspects, E. Shankar (38) and E. Srujana (30) from Budidhagadda, falling under Mills Colony police station limits, were caught with liquor valued at Rs 65,790. Additionally, police raided an illegal belt shop at Shakarasikunta in the Mills Colony area and arrested the shop operator, Ch. Radhika (32), seizing IMFL worth Rs 55,750.
A manhunt has also been started to locate the owner of Shiva Wines in Shivanagar of Warangal, who is alleged to be running the belt shops. Following the raids, all the arrested people and the seized property were handed over to the respective police stations for further legal action.
