Vijayawada: The paddy procurement centres designated for procuring paddy from farmers for the 2024-25 Kharif season are set to close from March 3 in NTR district. The NTR district recorded 2,36,803 metric tonnes of paddy.
According to an official release issued by civil supplies manager in the NTR district, out of the 2,36,803 metric tonnes of paddy produced this Kharif season, the district administration set a target to procure 1,13,500 metric tonnes and has so far procured 1,10,513 metric tonnes of paddy from farmers through the Rythu Seva Kendras (RSKs) as part of the 2024-25 Kharif season.
The district administration, in coordination with the civil supplies department, opened the RSKs and initiated the procurement process from farmers. In this regard, the authorities have decided to close all procurement centres from March 3 and have urged farmers, who are yet to sell their paddy, to bring their produce to the nearest procurement centre before the closure.
