Hyderabad: With India making a transition from volume to value with a sharp focus on healthcare innovation, Union minister of commerce & industry Piyush Goyal on Wednesday urged global investors and industry leaders to seize the immense opportunities that India presents. He asked them to drive innovation, expand healthcare frontiers, and make cutting-edge medical solutions accessible to all.
“With initiatives like production-linked incentives schemes for pharma, bulk drugs, and medical devices, as well as the Genome India project, India is poised to lead the next wave of healthcare manufacturing, providing free treatment to crores of Indians and offering medicines at an 80% discount,” Goyal said in a recorded video address at the valedictory of BioAsia 2025 on Wednesday.
Pointing out that India is dedicated to collaborating with international stakeholders to address global healthcare challenges, he said that right from the pandemic to digital solutions, India offers unmatched talent, cost advantages, and a thriving innovation ecosystem.
He also pointed out that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the people of Telangana too are benefiting from transformational reforms like the Kakatiya Mega Textile Park in Warangal, the industrial node in Zaheerabad, and an All-India Institute of Medical Sciences at Bibi Nagar.
“We have 2605 km of national highways which were constructed in Telangana since 2014, and four greenfield corridors are being built under the Bharatmala project. Recently, I also had the privilege to launch the National Turmeric Board at Nizamabad,” he said.
