Tirupati: Kadapa One-Town police arrested a bike mechanic-turned-thief and recovered 18 stolen bikes from his possession on Friday. According to Kadapa DSP Venkateswarlu, the arrested was identified as Velpula Narendra (27), a resident of Ravindra Nagar in Kadapa town. Following a spike in bike theft cases in Kadapa in the Jan this year, a special team headed by Kadapa One-Town CI B Ramakrishna was formed to investigate the cases. During the interrogation, Narendra confessed to have stolen multiple bikes in and around Kadapa in the last few months. He was presented before the local court on Friday.TNN
