Court grants bail to 2 accused in Cambodia cyber slavery case | Hyderabad News

Hyderabad: Less than a month after two individuals were arrested for their alleged involvement in trafficking humans to Cambodia, the first additional sessions judge granted bail to the accused. With this, all individuals arrested in connection with the charge of cyber slavery have now received bail.
The two accused, Mohammed Abrar and Ahmed Khan, both residents of Hyderabad, were arrested on separate dates last month by the Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TGCSB). Along with others, they reportedly lured victims with promises of computer operator jobs in Cambodia. However, once there, the victims were forced into cyber slavery by being controlled by Chinese nationals.
In the case, which was registered in Sept 2024, TGCSB officials arrested five individuals —Abrar Mohammed, Shabbir Ali, Mohammed Fazil Ali Khan, Dawood Siddiqui, and Ahmed Khan. Dawood is considered the prime accused. In all, 11 people have been named as accused, with six still on the run. Dawood, Fazil, and Shabbir were granted bail in the last two months.
On Thursday, Abrar, a travel agent from Yakutpura, and Ahmed Khan, a resident of Kanchanbagh, were granted bail. “The record shows that the material part of the investigation has been completed with regard to the accused, and three others have already been released on bail. Given this and the fact that the petitioners have been languishing in jail, this court finds it appropriate to grant bail,” the court said.
The victims trafficked to Cambodia were coerced into scamming Indians, receiving training on how to deceive, con, and extort through cybercrime.
