Hyundai Creta, Maruti Grand Vitara and Kia Seltos are among the top-selling SUVs in India, currently holding market shares of 34.39%, 29.3% and 12.01%, respectively. These midsize SUVs are now ready to receive major upgrades with a generational shift in the coming years. Let’s take a look at all key details we know so far about the upcoming next-generation Creta, Grand Vitara and Seltos.
New-Gen Hyundai Creta

The third-generation Hyundai Creta (codenamed SX3) is expected to arrive in 2027. If reports are to be believed, the biggest upgrade will be made to its powertrain. The new-gen Creta could be offered with the strong hybrid powertrain. While the petrol-hybrid powertrain details are not available at this point, it’s likely to come with a 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine, a battery pack and an electric motor. Hyundai might scrap the diesel engine from the new Creta lineup due to the upcoming BS7 emission norms. The SUV will also see significant changes inside and out.
New-Gen Kia Seltos

The second-generation Kia Seltoscurrently in its initial testing phase, is set to hit Indian roads in 2026. The spy images reveal that the SUV’s all-new model will derive its design elements from the EV5. It is likely to feature a newly-designed front grille, revised bumpers, new LED headlamps and alloy wheels, and redesigned LED taillamps. The interior of the new Seltos could be revised with a bunch of new features including a new steering wheel, new seat upholstery, revised door trims and headrests and ambient lighting system. The 2026 Kia Seltos could be the first Kia in India to feature hybrid powertrain. The existing 1.5L petrol and diesel engines will also be carried forward.
New-Gen Maruti Grand Vitara

The new-generation Maruti Grand Vitara launch is also on the cards. However, there is no official word on its launch timeline. Recently, one of its test mules was spied testing with heavy camouflage. The SUV is likely to come with slightly improved styling featuring a more upright grille, revised LED headlamps and bumper with LED fog lamps, a new set of alloy wheels and sharper LED taillamps. With the generational shift, this midsize SUV might get the Level 2 ADAS suite, a 360 degree camera and a dual-pane sunroof. No changes are expected in its powertrain setup.
