Putting the party worker on the top of the agenda, AICC incharge for Telangana Meenakshi Natarajan sent a strong message to the party heads that party cadre should get highest respect as it was on their sacrifices that the party came to power.
In her first visit to Telangana, she addressed the Executive Committee meeting attended by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, TPCC chief Mahesh Goud and all Ministers, and said give confidence to the cadre that it is their government.
Dismissing the culture of carrying the luggage of leaders, she asked them not to undermine their self-respect and said no one would become a leader with such attitude. Such culture is not promoted by Rahul Gandhi and self-respect of a party worker is paramount just like a tall leader, she said.
In a firm tone, she made it clear that every village must be covered with the party taking the government programmes to every nook and corner, and also gave a deadline of April for preparing a calender for activities to be held at the district, mandal and village level.
Take Rahul Gandhi’s slogan of ‘Jai Bapu, Jai Bhim, Jai Samvidhan’ to every village extensively, she said reminding that strong leaders come from grassroots and not from billboards or posters.
It is time to reclaim the Congress’s heritage of Indian Independence struggle that no other party has, she said adding that no other party has done what Congress did for independence and the country’s unity. She also asked the party to prepare its own political ground to fight the divisive forces.
Caste survey
Praising the caste survey taken up by the Telangana government, she said Telangana’s name reverberated everywhere with the work it had done. “Now we have to take this to everyone. The results gave the government an opportunity to design policies,” she added.
Revanth’s deadline
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy asked the incharge Ministers to prepare the list of party workers to be appointed in various committees by March 10. He said committed cadre have been given political opportunities and this process would continue.
He also expressed his displeasure that those who secured posts were not giving time and those left out were also not active. “We have time and we will accommodate all the sincere workers,” he said urging them to take the government programmes to the people.
