HYDERABAD: The Telangana Congress has suspended its MLC Teenmaar Mallanna for anti-party activities. The TPCC Disciplinary Committee Chairman G Chinna Reddy issued orders to this effect on Saturday.

The MLC has been vociferously opposing the caste census conducted by the Congress government. He dubbed it fake and charged that it was a ploy hatched by upper caste leaders to suppress the BCs.

The Congress MLC had also burnt Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s statement copy on caste census on February 5. His comments against upper caste have not gone well with the party and the State Congress leadership served showcause notice to the Congress MLC seeking his explanation before February 12.

However, the Congress MLC stood firm on his stand over the caste survey. The MLC had openly declared that he would not respond to the showcause notice.

The Reddy Jagruthi Samithi had staged a protest at Gandhi Bhavan demanding the Telangana Congress to initiate action against the MLC. The Samithi leaders had also warned that if the party did not take any action against the MLC, they would teach a lesson to the party in the local bodies’ elections.

Accordingly, the TPCC Disciplinary Committee issued orders suspending Teenmaar Mallanna from the party.

“The Committee has not received any explanation so far and again you are continuing your tirade against the Congress party repeatedly. Hence, the Committee has decided to suspend you from the Congress party keeping in view of your anti-party activities,” Chinna Reddy said in the orders.

Meanwhile, TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud said the AICC had taken a strong objection over MLC Teenmaar Mallanna tearing the Caste Census report. He was warned particularly by the State leadership over the issue and yet he did not mend ways.

“Any leader, who violates party line and rules, will be punished,” Mahesh Kumar Goud said.
