Hyderabad: Two people died, and two others were injured when their car crashed into the rear of a private travel bus at Chityal, on the Hyderabad-Vijayawada National Highway, in Nalgonda district early on Sunday.
The deceased have been identified as Sayyad Nawaz and Mohammed Zubair, both in their mid-30s. The other two are receiving treatment at Nalgonda district govt hospital.
According to the police, the incident occurred at around 1.30 am on the outskirts of Pedda Kaparthi village near Chityal on the highway. A speeding truck travelling towards Vijayawada collided with the car in which the victims were travelling. As a result, the car rammed into a private travel bus moving ahead of it at close range.
The impact of the crash was such that the car got shoved under the bus completely. Additionally, another private bus behind the truck collided with it from behind due to the crash, leaving the truck and two buses partially damaged, while the car was reduced to a mangled wreck.
Alerted by passersby, Chityal police rushed to the scene and began the rescue operation. The truck and the two buses were separated with relative ease, but it took considerable effort to pull the mangled car from under the bus. A case has been registered against the truck driver, and further investigation is ongoing, said a police official.
