AP Ex CID PV Sunil Kumar Suspended

A significant development took place in Andhra Pradesh on Sunday, as senior IPS officer PV Sunil Kumar was suspended. Sunil Kumar, who served as the CID Chief during the YCP rule, has faced numerous allegations. It is well known that during his tenure, allegations surfaced regarding the third-degree torture of former MP and the present Deputy Speaker of the Andhra Pradesh Assembly, Raghurama Krishnaraju, while in CID custody. Sunil Kumar was reportedly in charge when the incident occurred.

After the formation of the coalition government, Sunil Kumar was attached to the DGP office but has not been assigned a post since. Today, the state government decided to suspend Sunil Kumar for violating the Code of Conduct in his service. The government has accused Sunil Kumar of traveling to Sweden in 2023 without prior state government permission. Furthermore, despite initially requesting permission to travel to Georgia, he went instead to the United Arab Emirates (UAE). On another occasion, after taking permission to visit the United States, he traveled to the United Kingdom instead. The government determined that Sunil had repeatedly traveled abroad without informing them and at times provided false information, thus violating the Civil Services Code of Conduct.

In addition to these allegations, there have been accusations that Sunil Kumar invited his close associate, Tulasi Baba, to the CID office during his tenure. There are also claims that Tulasi Baba, a heavyset man, allegedly attempted to kill Raghurama Krishnaraju by sitting on his chest. Moreover, Sunil Kumar faced controversy for promoting a particular religion on his social media accounts, which led to further debates about his conduct as an IPS officer.

In light of these ongoing controversies, the state government has decided to suspend Sunil Kumar, marking a significant turn of events.
