NTTPS worker dies inside plant

Vijayawada: A worker died, and another sustained serious injuries while rubber binding at a unit in the Narla Tatarao Thermal Power Station (NTTPS) near Ibrahimpatnam in NTR district on Saturday.
According to ACP Durga Rao, the 800 MW unit of the fifth phase of NTTPS was commissioned in 2023, but nearly 30% of the construction work remains incomplete. As part of ongoing works, a contractor assigned two labourers, Ramesh Rao, to rubber binding the water mineralisation plant breakers.
Allegedly, the plant has only one entry point, and at the time of the incident, neither the supervisor nor other employees were present. The two labourers reportedly fell unconscious due to unknown reasons. When the contractor arrived at around 4 PM, he found them lying on the ground inside the plant. They were immediately rushed to the hospital, but as one of the workers, Bora Prasad (43), showed no movement, he was shifted to a hospital in Vijayawada, where doctors declared him dead. The deceased was a native of Ramavarappadu, Vijayawada, while the injured worker, Kishore Kumar (40), who is currently undergoing treatment, hails from Autonagar.Ibrahimpatnam police have registered a case and are investigating.
