Vijayawada: A tragic incident took place aboard the Repalle–Secunderabad passenger train on Sunday when a man allegedly died by suicide inside a luggage coach. The deceased was identified as Baliga Rambabu (43), a resident of Chinaganjam village in Chirala mandal, Bapatla district. He was reportedly working as a lorry cleaner.
According to railway police sources, passengers noticed the man hanging from an iron rod in the first luggage coach shortly after the train departed from Repalle. Upon being alerted, railway authorities stopped the train at Nadikudi Junction, where the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Govt Railway Police (GRP) personnel examined the scene and confirmed his death. Initial reports suggest he used a blanket to take his own life.
Following standard procedure, the body was retrieved and sent to Gurazala Govt Hospital for post-mortem examination. The railway police registered a case and initiated an investigation to ascertain the circumstances leading to the incident.
The train remained halted at Nadikudi station for about 15 minutes before resuming its journey. Further inquiries are underway to determine whether Rambabu was facing any personal or financial distress.
