The All India Dental Students Association (AIDSA) and its surgeons’ wing have submitted formal representations to Dental Council of India (DCI) offices across the country, including the Telangana Dental Council. The letters call for immediate and strict action against individuals engaged in dental quackery, citing severe risks to public health.

According to AIDSA, dental quackery leads to numerous health hazards, including the spread of life-threatening infections due to improper sterilisation of instruments. The association pointed out that unqualified practitioners often use substandard materials and unsafe techniques, increasing the risk of oral cancer and other severe complications. Misdiagnosis and hazardous procedures performed by quacks can result in permanent damage to patients.

“Dental quackery is a serious menace that endangers public health. Many untrained individuals continue to practice without proper qualifications, leading to severe complications for unsuspecting patients,” said M.D. Manzur, national president of AIDSA.

The association cited the Telangana Medical Council as a model for tackling quackery, urging State governments to adopt similar measures to combat the issue. The association has also appealed to the government, health authorities, and the public to support their campaign.
