Khammam: Kurnool Catholic diocese Bishop Johannes Gorantla called upon of Christians to develop a philosophy of divine compassion.
He along with Khammam diocese Bishop Dr Sagili Prakash, Karunagiri Shrine director Father Mathew Varaprasad Raju and other priests attended the closing ceremony of Karunagiri Shrine Pilgrimage Festival here on Sunday and delivered a spiritual discourse.
All the people in the society should be compassionate and peaceful towards their fellow beings. The path shown by Jesus would make everyone a special human being. After enduring many hardships Jesus spread the good path in the world, he said.
Bishop Dr Prakash asked the devotees to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ ardently as they fill the world with new spring. The unwavering belief in the philosophy of divine compassion would keep everyone in a high position in their lives, he said.
The annual pilgrimage festival of Karunagiri Shrine has spread faith and spirituality. Thousands of devotees have reflected their unwavering faith in the shrine during the four-day celebrations, the Bishop noted.
Karunagiri director Father Varaprasad Raju said that Karunagiri festival has been held in high esteem for decades and the large number of devotees from both Telugu states participating in these celebrations shows the importance of the shrine.
After celebrating the Holy Mass, Kurnool Bishop Johannes was felicitated by Khammam Bishop Dr Prakash, Father Varaprasad Raju, VJ Shourie, Proctor Surepalli Isaac and religious leaders with gajamala and shawl.
Cultural programmes performed by students of various schools during these celebrations entertained everyone. Prizes were given to the winners of the kolatam competitions held for men and women.
