Vijayawada: NTR district police successfully rescued the sixth infant as part of their ongoing crackdown on child trafficking networks. The search is still on for one more infant. A special team busted a child trafficking racket on Saturday, rescuing three infants and nabbing five women involved in the racket.
Further investigations led to the identification of three more trafficked infants. One was found in Narsipatnam of Anakapalle district, another from Palakollu in West Godavari district, and an earlier one was from Rajahmundry on Sunday.
Acting on credible intelligence, a team led by task force ADCP A Srinivasa Rao, along with ACP K Latha Kumari and North ACP Sravanti Roy, intensified their operations against illegal child trafficking.
On March 1, 2025, police arrested five women involved in an illegal child trafficking racket that targeted childless couples. Three children, who were being prepared for illegal sale, were rescued and taken into safe custody.
The rescued children were handed over to the Department of Women and Child Welfare. With this latest rescue, the total number of infants saved rose to six, while the search is on for one more infant.
Investigations are ongoing to trace additional victims and identify other suspects involved in the racket.
