Want every citizen in Andhra Pradesh to become digitally literate: Chief minister Chandrababu Naidu

Vijayawada: Besides availing govt services, people will soon be able to lodge complaints using WhatsApp governance facility in the state. The govt is planning to introduce a new mechanism into WhatsApp governance so that even illiterate people can lodge complaints. In a review meeting on Monday, chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu said he wants every citizen in the state to become digitally literate.
“There is still a lack of awareness among the public about WhatsApp governance and its ease of access. Measures should be taken to raise awareness about this. District collectors and secretariat staff in various regions should take this responsibility. Once digital literacy among citizens increases, the utility of WhatsApp governance will also increase,” Naidu said, while emphasising on the need for data lake setup and data integration process to be expedited.
IT and real time governance secretary Bhaskar Katamneni explained that an additional 150 services will be added to WhatsApp governance, besides the existing 200 services, by the end of March. “The first phase of data lake setup will be completed in May. An exercise is being done to provide all services on a single platform under the ‘One State One App’ initiative,” he said.
The CM also reviewed the latest public perception survey results. Officials said 90% of people are satisfied with the management of Anna canteens, while 82.5% were satisfied with the behaviour of staff distributing pensions. The meeting was attended by municipal administration minister P Narayana, agriculture minister K Atchannaidu, home minister Vangalapudi Anitha, MSME minister Kondapalli Srinivas, chief secretary K Vijayanand, and other senior officials.
