The Factories Department of Andhra Pradesh has initiated the 54th National Safety Week celebrations, urging factory management across Guntur and NTR districts to actively participate in raising safety awareness among workers.

The week-long campaign, which will run from March 4 to 10, aligns with the broader goals of Swarna Andhra-2047 and Viksit Bharat.

Deputy Chief Inspector of Factories, Guntur, M.V. Siva Kumar Reddy, issued directives to factories’ managements, emphasizing the need to conduct safety programs within their premises. The initiative follows instructions from the state government and approvals from the Collectors.

Factories are required to educate workers about the importance of National Safety Week, hoist safety flags, and conduct a collective safety pledge, Siva Kumar Reddy explained.

He said that, in an effort to encourage participation, workers adhering to safety protocols will be honored, and competitions such as safety slogan contests and quizzes will be organised.

A unique initiative called ‘Hero of Workplace’ will be implemented, where workers’ family members will be invited to their workplaces to understand the importance of safety measures.

This initiative aims to reinforce the value of occupational safety in securing livelihoods and ensuring workplace well-being.

As part of community outreach, technical managers and safety officers from factories will visit government schools to educate students on road safety, electrical appliance safety, and LPG handling precautions.

Factories are also instructed to display boards highlighting accident-free workdays, promoting a culture of workplace safety.

Siva Kumar Reddy said, “Additionally, factory managements must submit a comprehensive report, including photographs, documenting their safety activities. The department has called for nominations of the Best Safety-Following Worker by February 25, 2025, for commendation at the district level.”

The campaign underscores the government’s commitment to ensuring a secure and hazard-free work environment, reinforcing safety as a fundamental aspect of industrial growth in Andhra Pradesh, he observed
