Vamshi’s wife seeks CCTV footage from Patamata police station

Vijayawada: The high court on Wednesday granted police time till Monday to respond to the petition filed by Vallabhaneni Pankajasri, wife of Vallabhaneni Vamshi Mohan, former MLA of Gannavaram, who was arrested on charges of kidnap, coercion, and also under the SC/ST Act.
Pankajasri sought directions from the high court to Vijayawada police to preserve CCTV footage of Patamata police station from Feb 10 to 15. Her counsel argued that CCTV footage is crucial evidence to prove that her husband’s arrest was illegal. The counsel further stated that though representations were given to the Vijayawada police commissioner and the station house officer of Patamata, there was no response from them to their request, which prompted the filing of the petition.
The govt pleader sought time to submit details as the petition came up for hearing for the first time. Considering the submission, Justice N Harinath posted the matter for further hearing to March 10 with a direction to the police for submission of details of the case. Vamshi was arrested by Patamata police on charges of kidnapping and coercing the complainant in the Gannavaram TDP office attack case to give a false statement in court.
