Hyderabad: The state cabinet on Thursday decided to introduce three Bills – one on Scheduled Castes (SC) sub-categorisation, and two for providing 42% reservations to Backward Classes (BC) in local bodies and also in education as well as employment. The Bills will be introduced in the upcoming budget sessions.
The cabinet also gave its nod for creation of Future City Development Authority (FCDA) and extension of Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) jurisdiction. The cabinet meeting, led by chief minister A Revanth Reddy, continued for about six hours.
Briefing the media on the cabinet decisions, ministers Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy and Ponnam Prabhakar said after assembly clears the BC reservation Bill, it would be sent to the Centre, and the previous Bill of BRS govt for 37% reservation for BCs will be withdrawn from the Centre.
“The state govt discussed both SC sub-categorisation and BC reservations and caste survey,” Srinivas Reddy said, adding the committee had discussed the 71 representations on SC sub-categorisation and decided to prepare a Bill to ensure there were no legal issues later.
The FCDA will have 56 villages in seven mandals covering about 30,000 acres between Nagarjuna Sagar highway and Srisailam highway. Of these 56 villages, 36 will be removed from HMDA and transferred to FCDA, Srinivas Reddy said. The govt also sanctioned 90 posts for FCDA, both regular and on outsourcing basis.
The HMDA jurisdiction will now stretch till Regional Ring Road (RRR), comprising 11 districts, 104 mandals and 1,355 villages, including 332 new revenue villages, the minister said.
A tourism policy for 2025-2030 aimed to attract Rs 15,000 crore in the next five years was also approved. The cabinet also decided to develop 27 special tourism spots with a plan to generate three lakh jobs. The govt will also have a trust board for Yadadri on the lines of TTD.
“The Cabinet also okayed the Indira Mahila Shakti Mission 2025. The minimum age to join Mahila Shakti groups is now 15 (earlier 18) and maximum is now 65 (earlier 60),” Srinivas Reddy said.
As the Miss World 2025 competition will be held in the state in May, the govt has asked the authorities to make all arrangements as participants from 140 countries will be attending, the minister said.
Cabinet also approved village revenue officers’ appointment for all 10,954 villages, including the eligible village revenue officers (VRO) and village revenue assistants (VRA) who worked earlier in the revenue department.
The govt also cleared creation of 33 selection grade deputy collectors on the request of the revenue association. It was also decided to reduce the Gandhamalla reservoir capacity from 4.28 tmc ft to 1.41 tmc ft.
The cabinet also approved giving a govt job to Paralympics 2024 bronze winner Deepthi Jeevanzi.
