ELURU: Four persons were killed in a road accident that took place in Eluru district on Thursday morning. A private travel bus was going from Hyderabad to Kakinada. When the bus crossed Chidimella flyover under Eluru rural police station limits, the bus was overturned after hitting a lorry.
Three persons were killed on the spot and the driver of the bus succumbed to injuries while getting treatment, As many as 21 people were injured in the accident.
The injured persons were admitted to GGH, Eluru. The police and the Highway rescue teams have removed the bus from the road. Meanwhile, Eluru district collector Vetriselvi visited the GGH and enquired about the health condition of the injured persons. She has directed the doctors to provide better treatment for the injured.
According to Eluru DSP, Sravan Kumar, a private travel bus, Ramana Travels was going from Hyderabad to Kakinada with 40 passengers. When the bus crossed Chodimella flyover in Eluru on the National highway it rammed into a lorry which was parked due to a breakdown because of a tyre puncture.
The driver of the bus thought that the lorry was going. Bondu Bheemeswara Rao(43) native of Gurrala Cheruvu village in Bhimadolu mnadal in Eluru district, Mattaparthi Bhavani(24) native of Katravulapalli in Kakinada district and Juthiga Bhavani native of Vanjaram village of Konaseeema district died on the spot.
Meanwhile, the driver of the bus, Madhu, a native of Srikakulam succumbed to injuries while getting treatment in the hospital. Nine women and four persons sustained serious injuries whereas eight persons sustained minor injuries.
