Nellore district gears up for paddy procurement

On behalf of the State government, all arrangements have been made to purchase paddy grains for the upcoming kharif season. Around 300 paddy procurement centres are being set up in association with 523 Rythu Seva Kendra (RSK) centres across SPSR Nellore district by second week of February.

In a review meeting with Agriculture and Allied Department officials on Wednesday, District Collector O. Anand ordered to monitor the farmers at the field-level to ensure that they receive minimum support price (MSP), as announced by the State government. He said that all necessary arrangements should be made for procurement without causing any difficulties to the farmers.

He directed the officials to complete e-crop booking by February 25th. He suggested to grant necessary bank loans to the farmers who have Crop Cultivator Rights Cards (CCRC). To encourage natural farming, he advised to promote stalls for pesticide-free agricultural products in Primary Agricultural Cooperative Credit Societies (PACS) selected under District Cooperative Department.

During the meeting, B. Gurappa, District Cooperative Officer, informed the Collector that a pesticide-free agricultural produce stall would be set up at Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) in Dagadarthi soon. As a pilot project, one godown under the marketing department and another under the cooperative department should get recognition from Warehousing Development and Regulatory Authority.

B. Sreenivasulu, Project Director, Andhra Pradesh Micro Irrigation Project (APMIP), explained to the Collector that out of the target set for drip irrigation of five thousand acres in the district, they have already installed for three thousand acres. The Collector suggested that the remaining 2,000 acres of drip equipment should be completed soon.
