10 schools to vie for honours at grand finale of NIE Vista Ideathon

Vijayawada: Ten school teams from Vijayawada region are set to showcase their scientific innovations at the grand finale of the second edition of NIE Vista Ideathon at Taj Vivanta on Saturday. Dr Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani, Union minister of state for rural development and communications, will grace the event as chief guest. The remaining 10 teams will get exciting prizes along with certificates. The teacher-mentors of the top 20 teams will also be honoured. The top school with maximum participation at all levels in each of the five zones will be rewarded too.
This year’s Ideathon saw the participation of over 45 schools with more than 500 entries in Vijayawada region. The event, organized by The Times of India in association with Vellore International School (VIS), Chennai, aims to foster innovation and entrepreneurial thinking among students. Entrepreneurship Development and Innovation Institute (EDII), Tamil Nadu, is the knowledge partner for the initiative. Dr GV Selvam, chairman – VIS and vice-president – VIT will also be present at the event.
NIE Vista Ideathon is an innovative platform created by The Times of India with a mission to inspire and empower young minds. Launched as part of the Newspaper in Education (NIE) initiative, it provides school students a unique opportunity to channel their creativity and problem-solving skills through real-world scientific and entrepreneurial challenges.
Now in its second edition, NIE Vista Ideathon has grown to become a prestigious event, encouraging students to think beyond traditional classroom boundaries and engage in practical, innovative thinking. The event seeks to foster an environment where students can transform their ideas into viable projects, promoting a culture of research, development, and entrepreneurship from a young age.
Through partnerships with leading institutions such as VIS, Chennai, and with the support of the EDII, Tamil Nadu, the Ideathon has cemented its role as a key initiative in nurturing future leaders, innovators, and entrepreneurs in the region. The competition included multiple stages, from initial submissions and evaluations to mentorship and final presentations, ensuring that students receive comprehensive guidance and exposure. NIE Vista Ideathon is not just a competition; it is a celebration of young talent, resilience, and a forward-thinking approach that shapes the innovators of tomorrow.
