Hyderabad: The state govt on Friday transferred 21 IPS officers, including four commissioners of police (CP) of Warangal, Karimnagar, Ramagundem and Nizamabad.
In the case of Karimnagar CP, the post fell vacant recently after Abhishek Mohanty was asked by the Union home ministry to report to Andhra Pradesh cadre. Gaush Alam has been posted in his place
There had been talk of transfers for the past four months as many unit heads have been at their stations for a long time. The recent Model Code of Conduct (MCC) had delayed the exercise.
But except Anil Kumar, an additional director general (ADG) rank officer, the govt has not disturbed other senior IPS officers in IG, ADG and DGP rank. There was expectation that other senior IPS officers will be reshuffled too as some of them such as TSRTC managing director VC Sajjanar, Hyderabad ADG (law & order) Vikram Singh Mann, IGP (intelligence) Kartikeya, DIG (intelligence) Tafseer Iqubal and a few others have been in their posts for long. Sajjanar and Mann, for instance, have been in the same post for more than three years.
