In a setback for Elon Musk-owned SpaceX, a starship of the company exploded shortly after its launch in Texas on Thursday. This is the second launch failure for Elon Musk’s interplanetary exploration programme this year.
According to SpaceX’s official statement, the unscrewed ship suffered a rapid, unscheduled disassembly while travelling to space and lost contact with the ground.
The video of this huge SpaceX starship going out of control and exploding went viral on social media. The debris of this starship fell in the Caribbean islands.
The SpaceX Starship is the largest rocket created so far. It is the eighth mission to test the rocket and its second straight failure. After a one-hour flight, the spaceship was supposed to re-enter the Earth’s orbit over the Indian Ocean.
SpaceX also informed that teams have started coordinating with safety officials immediately for pre-planned contingency responses. The company further added that it would review the case to understand the root cause of the explosion and noted that it happened after several engines were lost.
